What Customers Say About Nikon Coolpix L18 8MP Digital Camera with 3x Optical Zoom (Navy):
|
|
The repair costs comes to $102 and some change for a camera valued at $99. I suspect a faulty mechanism on this camera. This camera was sent in for repair without a scratch on it; this camera was never dropped or had impact. Nikon has lost my loyalty with this camera; horrible customer service. If you plan on purchasing this camera plan on it coming to you void of any type of warranty; my experience gives the impression they simply blame a faulty camera on the customer. They explain the lens was crooked. The camera lasted all of 5 months with a maximum of 2 hours of use then a battery change resulted in "lens error." Nikon claims that there was "lens impact" as reason for not repairing under warranty. The lens became crooked when I turned the camera on after changing batteries; apparently they suspect impact or that it was dropped.
Other reviewers mentioned that the camera used up batteries but I think the camera can no longer sense the true battery power. We loved this camera when we first bought it. I have not tried to contact Nikon, so perhaps they know about this problem and would fix it (however, most of the negative reviews indicated otherwise). I have tested the batteries and used them in other devices and they still have plenty of power but the camera says battery exhausted after only a few minutes. The pictures and videos of our new son came out great. However, it is now having an issue with detecting the batteries (after less than a year of ownership).
There is a macro setting for super-close ups which will come out blurry if you dont use a tripod. I've had this camera for 2 years and taken hundreds of photos with it. In general it's great for photos of family and friends, not great for action or long distance. The zoom is wonderful, just be careful not to zoom so much that you use the digital zoom, that will digitize your photos. I've taken with me on a deployment and to the beach and it still did great. The flash is somewhat tricky to get just right, you just have to experiment.
i was so upset :(. as mentioned in previous reviews, this camera eats up the battery. after transferring my pictures into the computer, some pictures were cut in half, the result being a picture which was half blank grey and half the actual picture.
The color is very elegant and above all the camera is so easy to use. Grerat purchase. The clarity of the pictures is amazing.
